DLD for Youth, Inc. was established to facilitate a learning environment that will help young men who are undeserved, underprivileged, and in disenfranchised populations.  Our program teaches computer literacy, economic literacy, vocational skills, and violence prevention.  It helps expand social education through recreational and community services for students and their parents.

OUR MISSION

DLD for Youth support young men ages 8-25 throughout Chicago and the surrounding areas like Maywood, Bellwood, and Broadview.  A few times throughout the week, we have mentors and guest speakers come in and speak to our young men about some of the following topics:

  • How to dress for success discussion on school dress codes and the origins of baggy pants

  • The Value of education especially post-secondary efforts for the 21st-century global economy

  • The ingredients of self-discipline and its four key attributes: self-control, motivation, persistence, and goals

  • How boys growing up without their fathers cope with the pain - discussion on the documentary “Spitting’ Anger.”

  • Kwanzaa: The 7 Principals

  • Job Interviewing skills: resumes, cover letters, and dressing for the job

  • Building-Block Principles - Integrity & Self-Esteem

Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science

 

  • Founder / Certified by the IL State Fire Marshall

 


Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership and vision for the program

  • Overseeing community engagement efforts

  • Ensuring adherence to the program's mission and values

 


Experience:

  • The highest level in Fire Science 30 years of experience in the Fire Service

  • 20 years in present Fire Captain position works within his community act as liaison crisis manager for the police and other local
    organization.
