DLD for Youth, Inc. was established to facilitate a learning environment that will help young men who are undeserved, underprivileged, and in disenfranchised populations. Our program teaches computer literacy, economic literacy, vocational skills, and violence prevention. It helps expand social education through recreational and community services for students and their parents.
DLD for Youth support young men ages 8-25 throughout Chicago and the surrounding areas like Maywood, Bellwood, and Broadview. A few times throughout the week, we have mentors and guest speakers come in and speak to our young men about some of the following topics:
How to dress for success discussion on school dress codes and the origins of baggy pants
The Value of education especially post-secondary efforts for the 21st-century global economy
The ingredients of self-discipline and its four key attributes: self-control, motivation, persistence, and goals
How boys growing up without their fathers cope with the pain - discussion on the documentary “Spitting’ Anger.”
